Advancing Neurodiversity

A powerful collaboration with ParkCity Medical Centre

Backstory

ParkCity Medical Centre’s “Advancing Neurodiversity” event was a meaningful initiative aimed at celebrating differences and promoting awareness about neurodiversity in our communities. As part of this, PMC was looking for an inclusive event partner to complement the activities of their Child Development Center. While they had many options, they chose Care2Run, a decision driven by the organisation’s field-tested, high-quality activities and commitment to creating inclusive, supportive environments. With a strong track record in empowering neurodivergent youth through sports and mentoring, Care2Run’s involvement helped deliver a day filled with compassion, creativity, and connection. This collaboration reflected a shared mission: to ensure every child, regardless of neurotype, has the opportunity to participate, grow, and thrive.

Our Impact

Care2Run hosted a range of fun, inclusive booths where children explored, expressed, and challenged themselves in a safe and supportive space with special prizes awarded to the top five most determined participants.

1. Art Therapy

Children expressed their emotions and creativity through art using pre-outlined designs and materials like crayons, sun print paper, and fluid bear painting. This hands-on experience supported non-verbal communication and gave space for imaginative thinking.

2. Bubbles

Pure joy in motion kids chased and popped bubbles while laughing and engaging with others. Beyond the fun, this activity encouraged focus, impulse control, and sensory engagement through movement and teamwork.

3. FunFootball

Through team-based mini-games, children worked together to score goals and develop strategies. This active booth fostered communication, movement, and team chemistry, building both confidence and critical thinking.

4. Medallion Challenge

An engaging 3-stage activity where children searched for hidden medals, matched flashcards, and solved riddles. The booth tested memory, pattern recognition, and logical thinking, making learning feel like a game.

5. Young Youtubers

Children stepped into the spotlight to film short food review videos, experiencing what it’s like to be a young content creator. This booth helped them practice self-expression and built confidence in sharing opinions.

6. Calming Tents

A cozy sanctuary with LED lighting, pillows, blankets, and plush toys where children could decompress, relax, and just be themselves. The space allowed participants to self-regulate emotionally while enjoying a peaceful, sensory-friendly environment.

7. Talk Session

Care2Run CEO Prem joined a panel of professionals and parents to share insights on building supportive communities and inclusive systems for neurodivergent individuals. His talk emphasized compassion, collaboration, and creating safe spaces where all children can thrive.

8. Most Determined Awards

This special recognition celebrated five children from our booths who gave their best throughout the day, selected through a fair scoring system. Unlike typical awards, the Most Determined Award honours adversity, effort, and kindness. Winners received trophies and certificates for their outstanding spirit.
